Charlotte Frontier Days Bed Race
Once again Charlotte Frontier Days will be holding the 3rd annual bed race right before the parade starts on Saturday morning September 8th. Some things have changed so if you took part of the race in the past please note the changes. Deadline for the bed race is August 30th, 2007. Entry fee is $20.00 please submit to the Charlotte Frontier Days office located inside the Chamber of Commerce building 126 N. Bostwick St.

Rules are as follows:
- The team shall consist of six persons; 1 person will be the passenger, 4 on the posts, and 1 on the ropes.
- The passenger must be suitably attired and be at least 10 years of age.
- No substitutes will be allowed at any time during the race.
- Except for the nominated passenger, riding on the bed is strictly forbidden.
- Race competitors must obey instructions from The Police & Race Officials.
- All beds must complete the course within 30 minutes, so the parade can begin.
- The throwing of any objects is strictly forbidden at all times, you will be disqualified.
- Each team must provide a bed.
- The bed must not have any means of mechanical propulsion.
- The bed must not deliberately run on less than four wheels during the race.
- During the race the bed will travel to the corner, Passenger will get off the bed, run around the bed 5 times, jump a rope 5 times, get back on the bed and turn around and race back to the START/FINISH line.
- There must be no deliberate obstruction of other beds during the race.
- All beds must have the number displayed and securely attached on plates or cards on the front and sides. (A number will be provided to you at the beginning of the race.)
- You must have two ropes, each not more than 3.75m long attached to the rear of the bed, in order to slow its progress when necessary. A maximum of two additional ropes, not more than 3.75m long may also be attached to the bed.
- Have an audible means of approach (ex: a horn).
Prizes will be awarded immediately after the race. 1st place: trophy and $100.00 , 2nd place: trophy and $75.00, 3rd place: trophy and $50.00.
