2nd Annual Lovett St. Entertainment for Kids:

Thank you to Spartan Chassis for their continued support and partnership with Charlotte Frontier Days.  As a Major Sponsor for the downtown family activities; Lovett St. Entertainment for Kids is being brought back for a second year.  With the added support from The Summit and the Charlotte DDA as Major Sponsors, the CFD board is able to bring the community added family activities to the downtown area.

Pizza Eating Contest, hosted by Riedy’s Pizza – immediately following the Grand Parade.  Can you eat an entire pizza in 3 minutes or less?  K-12th grades only please.  1st place winner receives a $50.00 gift certificate to Riedy’s Pizza.  Prizes available for 2nd and 3rd place winners as well.   Each participant will receive a free pass to The Summit. Sign up sheet at Riedy’s Pizza.  $3.00 entry fee-pay at event.

Basketball fans, challenge your friends to a Free Throw Contest.  Enter for a chance to win cash prizes and various give-aways.  Hosted by UAW 602 and TheSummit
1st place winners for boys/girls receive $40.00 cash + an Orioles’ T-shirt, cash prizes and give-aways available for 2nd and 3rd place winners from each category.  Each participant will receive a free pass to The Summit.  3 categories each for both boys and girls – grades 3rd-5th, grades 6th-9th, and grades 10th-12th.  Oriole T-shirt made available by the Orioles’Hutt.  Sign up sheet at the Orioles Hutt.  $3.00 entry fee-pay at event.

Bikers, cyclist, are you fast enough?  Bicycle Barrel Racing.  If there can be barrel racing at the Rodeo with horses, then why not put your own horse power into a contest and win prizes from Skidmore’s Village Cycle Shop.  Each participant will receive a free pass to The Summit.  This is a timed event, cyclist will race around barrels and will be timed and judged just like at the PRCA Rodeo.  1st place wins a new bike from Skidmore’s Village Cycle Shop, prizes also available for 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Entry forms available at Skidmore’s Village Cycle Shop and must be signed by contestant and parent/legal guardian before entering contest-see contest rules and regulations.  5th-12 grades only please - helmets required.  $5.00 entry fee-pay at Skidmore’s with signed release form from parent/guardian.

Karaoke Contest, Hosted by Wal-Mart bringing you Frontier Idol.  That’s right, can’t get to American Idol but know your talented enough…..then look no more.  Enter the Frontier Idol to win the first place prize value of $100.00 ($50.00 cash and $50.00 gift card to Wal-Mart)  Cash prizes and give-aways also available for 2nd and 3rd place.  Each participant receives a free pass to The Summit.  $5.00 entry-applications available at Wal-Mart customer service counter.

Remember the Money Machine?  Hosted by Burlington Furniture.  The cash, the prizes, the gift certificates, the toys….try the football toss and golf putt (hosted by Century Town Reality) for a chance to enter the Money Machine.

Got a good arm?  Bring it to the Dunk Tank, show your friends what great aim you have.  Dunk City Officials, School teachers, and maybe even your friends.  Check the list on Saturday of the parade to see who you might want to dunk. 

Char lanes is giving you a chance to win free lanes of bowling.  It’s a ringer, toss the rings onto bowling pins and 2 liter Pepsi products to win free bowling passes.

Hoo-la-hoop contest – hosted by Sounds-2-Good DJ Service.  Join us for some hip swingin’ fun to see who can hoo-la-hoop the longest and jam to the tunes played by Sounds-2-Good DJ Services.  Prizes made available by ABC Warehouse.

Whip Crème Pie Eating Contest, hosted by Dairy Queen – Who can clean their plate first?  Gift certificates for free ice cream for all participants.   

Street Dance -   New this year the Jaycee’s are sponsoring a street dance for children of all ages.  The dance is free so bring your entire family.  Concession items are available during the dance.

HOOP SCOOP BOOGY!!  This is a timed event for teams of four.  The goal is to pick up as many different sizes and shapes of balls and carry to a hoop without dropping them in the process.  Hosted by ____________________ .  Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams.  No entry fee.

Dance and Karate performances on West Lovett Street (sponsored by WalMart) are an added feature to the downtown family activities this year.  Performances will be presented by Conservatory for Dance Arts, ATA Blackbelt Academy, Campbell Dance Studio and the Dance Studio.

Mini Tractor Pulls!  Whoever has the fastest time in this event wins free passes to Sunday’s Rodeo.

Look for the Ice Cream Treat Giveaway – generously donated by Schwanz.

Watch for the Capital Center Booth to sign up for a free skate pass to the Summit and passes to Aim High.

Two Mountain bikes will be raffled at 3:00 p.m.  Tickets will be available on West Lovitt during the dance performances.  Bikes are donated by Pepsi.

We may surprise you and have more fun and excitement up our sleeves.  Make sure to spend your afternoon on Lovett Street.
