Eighteen children competed for the 2005 Charlotte Frontier Days Prince & Princess. After Last years success the pageant was brought back this year. The contestants had a lot of fun rehearsing for their dance routine as well as their parents. In the past we have had parents who forgot that this is for their children and not a contest for them. I would like to thank all the parents for their patience and time. We hope that every child understands that they are all winners. Our wish is that the “2005" Prince & Princess will learn what our community is about and to have pride in it and themselves. They will have the opportunity to go to other festivals and ride in parades and be proud to represent Charlotte.
The children did a dance routine to “Don’t Rock The Jukebox” and entertained the audience. The dance routine was choreographed by Casey Thomas. Working with the children is Co- Chair Casey Thomas, Committee members Shelby Raymer, Tammy Rosenbrook and Britnee Redfield. We’ve had some great entertainment this year with Sarah Lowe from Campbell Dance Studio, Chuck Jenson and Morgan Gonzales. The Prince & Princess a long with the other candidates will be doing their dance routine at the Frontier Days Queen Pageant and Senior Queens Pageant.
The candidates were judged on their western wear and a question and answer asked by our emcee Dan Sowles. The children were judged on what was appropriate for their age group. The audience got a chance to vote on their favorite cowgirl and cowboy. Tommy Copeland was given the “Community Choice Award”. Best Dressed Award was given to Miranda Sparks. And the “Most Enthusiastic Award” was given to Kaitlynn Ripley.
The Prince & Princess Pageant was held and sponsored by CPAC. There was a 20 minute intermission and cake and punch was served to all of our guest. This years pageant was held early do to a Charlotte High School home football game.

Pageant Director Chris Morris/Co-Director Casey Thomas
“Community Favorite” was awarded to Tommy Copeland, The audience was given the opportunity to vote for their favorite cowgirl or cowboy giving the most votes 10 points to their over all score. Second and third most votes was given 5 points to their over all scores.
“Best Dressed” voted on by our emcee Dan Sowles went to Miranda Sparks. Dan says it was a very difficult decision to make. The children were dressed in various styles of the Old West including “Little House on the Prairie, “Annie Okley”, “Marshall Dillon” to “South of the Border”.
“Most Enthusiastic” was voted on by the Prince and Princess committee. The children rehearsed for their dance routine for several weeks prior to the pageant. The committee got to know the children and to see who helped the other children learn their dance. Kaitlynn Ripley was awarded “Most Enthusiastic”. At one of our last rehearsals our instructor, Casey Thomas had a emergency at work and was unable to attend rehearsal. Kaitlynn was so excited about the dance that she learned the routine so fast that she had to show the rest of us all the right steps.
Our committee hopes that every child has walked away knowing that they are all a winner. That they have more confidence and pride in themselves, to go out into the world and work hard to achieve their dreams.
